Multipraktik
Since 2021, Multipraktik has been making unique plywood sheets, veneered panels, and furniture using colored and natural wood veneers from domestic and exotic wood. Their products and ideas have recently been featured in several domestic and international exhibitions, such as Milano Design Week in 2021 and Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2023.
Multipraktik was founded in 2021 by Viktor Széll and Borbála Blahó. The predecessor of the brand started making table tennis rackets as a family business in the former Yugoslavia. The company, which is still 100% family-owned, moved to Kiskőrös in the early 90s and continued its activities, mainly making competition table tennis blades for German, Japanese and Korean customers.
In addition to producing table tennis blades for decades, a few years ago, the couple began to deal more seriously with the use of the same raw material in other areas. A well-established infrastructure and access to exceptional wood veneers provided the basis for experimentation with new products.
Prior to this, none of the founding members dealt with design in the strict sense, however, their different qualifications and backgrounds had a constructive effect on the brand.
Viktor graduated from the Budapest University of Economics and has been the company’s managing director since 2003. At Multipraktik, his tasks include organizing and managing all the infrastructure necessary for production. In addition, he takes an active role in outlining new ideas and concepts.
Borbála graduated from the Department of Graphic Arts at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, and has been designing and making furniture since 2018. She is responsible for the marketing and PR tasks related to Multipraktik, and, where appropriate, the design and construction of furniture.
About the product
BARAZDA Structured Panels (2024)
Their latest product is named BARAZDA, referring to the parallel furrows drawn into plowed fields.
The panels have a core covered with two layers of veneer in different colors. The top layer is carved with thin grooves (furrows), revealing the veneer underneath. This creates a multi-colored, striped surface that offers a unique experience not only visually but also in texture.
