The HFDA Academy design DIALOG event series returns with the 360 Design Budapest exhibition. Besides the ‘figital’ design exhibition, visitors can participate in three especially important and topical roundtable discussions between the 7th and the 10th of October 2021. The venue is Bálna Budapest throughout the whole event, but the diversity of the topics provides an insight into contemporary design’s questions and answers within an exciting framework. The participants of the discussions are all renowned representatives of the design institutes and industry of Hungary and the V4 countries, so it should not be missed! Which are the three topics? The following:
BUDAPEST DESIGN MATERIAL LIBRARY – THE TANGIBLE INNOVATION
The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency founded the Budapest Design Material Library, an unmatched material library in the region, with Moholy-Nagy University. The continuously expanding collection and the online database available on site provide an opportunity in different languages for Hungarian and international industry actors for getting to know a wide variety of material samples and their innovative uses. You can learn more about the amazing collection at the design DIALOG roundtable discussion entitled “Budapest Design Material Library – the tangible innovation”, where speakers will present the details of the exciting collaboration.

VISEGRAD 4 THE FUTURE OF DESIGN
The second design DIALOG’s topic crosses borders and examines diverse topics: Is Eastern European design really exotic? What makes the regional product design unique, and what novelty can the design brands of countries once beyond the Iron Curtain show to the world?
Visit our English design DIALOG roundtable discussion entitled “Visegrad 4 the future of design” and take part in the conversation about the future of Central European design. At our event, representatives of the V4 countries will talk about the tendencies we can identify in design in Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland – are these so different, or is there a common denominator in V4 countries’ design strategies?
Date: October 8, 2021 3:00-4:30 PM
THEN AND NOW – PRODUCT DESIGN THROUGH GENERATIONS
We are closing the series of roundtable discussions with a topic observing the creative approach in the dimensions of time and space.
