Exclusive guided tour with Márton Nemes
Márton Nemes was born in 1986 in Székesfehérvár and has studios in both Budapest and New York. He began his studies in industrial design at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, then between 2008 and 2013, he studied painting at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. He earned his master’s degree from Chelsea College of Arts in London in 2018. In 2019, he was awarded the Esterházy Prize. In 2024, Márton Nemes is representing Hungary at the 60th Venice Biennale with his exhibition titled Techno Zen, curated by Róna Kopeczky.
“The work of Márton Nemes is profoundly influenced by techno subcultures, with the explosion and rearrangement of the picture plane imparting a distinctive, psychedelic character to his paintings, which extend into abstract realms and evoke the visual atmosphere and lighting of contemporary nightclubs. In his paintings and multimedia installations that combine elements of painting and sculpture, a hypnotic spatial dynamic is created, drawing the viewer from the rawness of the real world into a fluid, dizzying field of colour.” – Hungarian Pavilion Press Release, 60th Venice Biennale.
The exclusive guided tour by Márton Nemes will take place on the 20th of October, Sunday, between 4 and 5 pm.
