Tarcsi Dóra
Dóra Tarcsi is a recently graduated designer focusing on furniture, lighting, and materials. She studied at the Budapest-based Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, earning her Master’s diploma in 2024. As a designer, she is most excited by exploring human needs and telling stories through materials. She enjoys identifying needs that people may not even articulate themselves and responding with products that address small, everyday habits, events, or gaps. She always strives for simplicity in her objects, with her ideas stemming from function or the intriguing qualities of a material.
About the object
The Bouy lamp collection is the product of her Master diploma project called MakeSail. The upcycling work shows an alternative for recycling the sailcloth accumulated around Lake Balaton, which is no longer suitable for sailing, destined for throwing away, but still of good quality for other uses. The educational aim of the project is to raise awareness in Hungary of the possibility of recycling sailcloth and the potential of this material. Her masterpiece is a family of lamps made of sailcloth for indoor and outdoor use, which gives the material a new function by using the good properties of sailcloth.
