sarakele studio & Cserba Anna
MOKO, envisioned and created by designers Sara Kele and Anna Cserba, represents a paradigm shift in furniture design.
The project’s aim is to encourage people to slow down in a natural home environment. The desginers employ the design methodology “less is more” by reducing upholstery and using coconut fibers to show the beauty of raw material, with a focus on circular economy. They believe it is important to show a way for PU foam replacement in the furniture industry. Coconut fibers are renewable and biodegradable, an eco-friendly alternative. To achieve this goal of a mindful lifestyle, the designers have crafted furniture pieces that embody simplicity and functionality. MOKO isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about environmental consciousness.
About the objects
MOKO’s core concept is simple: to bring the calm and peace of nature inside your home. Every item in our furniture line, whether it’s a chair, a table/bench with a tray, or a divider, embodies this idea in a tangible way. They hope to spark a conversation about mindful living and the importance of harmonizing with the natural world.
BENCH/TABLE
The collection features a versatile piece—a bench/table. It serves dual functions as both seating and a coffee table, making it a space-saving essential that fulfills its purpose. When used as a bench, it’s accompanied by a fitted coconut cushion for comfortable seating. As a table, you can place items on both the tabletop and the shelf below. Completing its functionality is a matching tray that fits perfectly on either surface, easily movable.
CHAIR
The collection includes a dining chair designed to serve the classic function in a dining area. The seat is a coconut cushion, providing comfort, while the backrest is made from coconut sheet, offering support for the back and maintaining proper posture. The unique joint solutions add character to the stackable chair design.
DIVIDER
The largest piece in the collection is a divider, consisting of two elements connected with coconut and wood joints. Its position can be easily adjusted, allowing it to be opened or closed depending on the desired space separation. The divider is made of coconut blocks held within a wooden frame, designed to let light pass through easily. This creates a beautiful effect of light and shadow.
