RAP
Rap interior, founded in 1990 in Mikulov by Vítězslav Vrbka, is now led by two generations: Vítězslav with his son Adam and daughter Michaela as Art Director. Known for unique, handcrafted solid wood furniture, Rap combines tradition with modern design. Their collections—Archean, Ab Ovo, Acuo—were showcased at Designblok and 360 Design Budapest, with the Ab Ovo bookcase nominated for the 2024 EDIDA Elle Decoration award.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
As an artist, I like to use materials that surround us. However, I do not use these materials – such as construction cord or flour – in their conventional way, but rather as tools for creation. I often work with leftovers in a craft-like manner, applying techniques that have traditionally been associated with women’s domestic labor. Through this approach, I dismantle and reinterpret the stigmatization of these activities.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS
ACUO mirror
The ACUO mirror is a dominant free-standing object. The solid base is made of a carbonized piece of solid oak, from which, like from crystal or rock, grows an exact sheet of smoked mirror. The mirror element is a functional and artistic object that reflects the surrounding reality in a dramatic frame. The mirror object was designed by Michaela Vrbková and was presented to the public during the international design festival Designblok 2024.
