About the object

FLASKO coffee table

The design concept for the FLASKO coffee table is inspired by the work of the late designer Sándor Borz Kováts. His design principles emphasized multifunctional furniture and the use of rounded forms. The goal was to create a piece of furniture that provides not only an aesthetic experience but also practical functionality, helping users maintain order. Sára Fruzsina Nagy designed a contemporary small piece of furniture that reflects Borz’s designs, particularly his 1969 PVC table. During the research phase, she collected objects whose original functions have changed or which have found new contexts, and which lack the creative twist characteristic of Borz’s work. Examples included coat stands and coffee tables. Ultimately, she chose to focus on the coffee table, as it occupies a central place in most homes and has evolved into a “hub” for collecting items. She considered that some objects used daily have no dedicated spot in our homes, possibly because they are frequently used or loved for their visibility—such as glasses, remote controls, and similar small items.
