Michaela Vrbková

Michaela Vrbková’s installations are more than mere artistic objects; they offer a space for dialogue in which viewers can reflect on their own experiences and attitudes toward the topics of beauty, fear and cultural norms. In this way, the work becomes both a visual and deeply personal challenge for us to reevaluate what we consider beautiful and what masks we put on not just in society but also in respect of ourselves.

Untitled from New Ordinary Cycle was created as an imprint of the New Ordinary objects, built on the dialogue between positive and negative forms. It is a subtle counterbalance to the palpable presence of the vibrant orange object, existing only within the material of the paper. Its visibility is revealed only up close, under suitable lighting conditions, thus evoking something tangible and alive as an existential trace.

Untitled from Knitted Drawing Series is a further rethinking of the orange objects from the New Ordinary series. The artist places the objects onto paper and traces around them, shaping new forms so that the object itself becomes a stencil. Without the original object, neither the embossed prints nor these drawings could have come into being. The drawings thus form another link in the overall process of artistic development, consisting of interconnected and sequential creative paths.
