SUSU Keramika
SUSU Keramika is the joint brand of Szaffi Asbóth and Flóra Bodnár. Their ceramics are handmade and celebrate irregularity. While they create everyday functional objects, their pieces don’t conform to any predefined formal language. Their objects feel alive — bearing fingerprints, never homogeneous, yet still refined. The patterns are shaped by the raw, finished forms themselves. Both artists are obsessed with colors and patterns, having previously worked as graphic designers. Now, they take great joy in working with clay and tangible objects, onto which they apply their drawings and paintings.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Flóra Bodnár studied Design Theory at Budapest Metropolitan University, while Szaffi Asbóth studied Textile Design at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Before meeting and starting their collaboration, both worked as freelancers for a few years. They have now been running the Susu Keramika brand together for seven years. They create everything jointly, and their taste, personalities, and styles are so similar that working together comes naturally. At the same time, they are different enough to inspire each other with new ideas.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECT
Silent Altar (2025)
Two hand-painted tile panels and a square-shaped vase stand side by side like a contemporary triptych. The left panel is the geometric sibling of the right: one presents abstract order and rhythm, while the other depicts a dreamlike, stylized landscape. Between them stands the vase — the focal point, inviting us closer to a scene, perhaps an animal, a gesture, or a story. Together, the three elements form a kind of “silent altar”: a trinity of space, landscape, and attention. The viewer’s gaze wanders — as if the world remembers being seen this way before.
