Gábor Góbi

For Gabor, creation is a journey of discovery. He is dedicated to designing in harmony with the environment, always allowing the present moment and inherent potential of an object to guide him. This philosophy is echoed in his studio, where the mission is to seamlessly blend eco-consciousness with a passion for design. Crafted items participate in nature’s eternal cycle. Drawing inspiration from upcycling, hygge, wabi-sabi, slow living, degrowth, and related movements, these creations persist, constantly reshaped by both gentle and formidable forces. Gabor leans heavily on natural materials, often employing traditional methods. His range spans furniture to accessories and sculptures, but all pieces share a singular origin: they are reclaimed from waste.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS

The objects in the Melting collection draw attention to the urgent reality of climate change and highlight that human activity is its primary cause. The melting wood and marble forms serve as a reminder that environmental protection is our shared responsibility. The pieces are made mainly from discarded furniture, demolition debris, and industrial leftovers. They merge the challenges of recycling and circular material use with a sculptural approach.

THRONE side table (2024)

This bespoke hand carved art object by Gabor Gobi is crafted from a repurposed dining chair and remnants of white marble. The materials, sourced from scrapyards, abandoned pieces on city streets, and residues from demolished structures, have been given a new lease on life.

PINK DREAM candle holder (2024)

This hand-carved, sculptural candle holder is crafted from reclaimed wood and pink marble. The components were salvaged from demolition sites, abandoned buildings, and city streets—rescued from decay and transformed into a new object that reflects the spirit and raw beauty of the Anthropocene era.

CUMULUS candle holder (2024)

This candle holder creates a powerful contrast between dark, scorched reclaimed wood and soft white marble, which wraps around the wooden base like a floating cloud. The wood and marble were salvaged from demolition sites, abandoned buildings, and city streets—rescued from ruin and reimagined as part of a new material narrative.
