Vivien Bene

During their university studies, the designer acquired both traditional and modern textile art techniques. However, the most valuable knowledge they gained was a deep respect and love for handcrafted textiles and traditions. The designer learned that tradition and craftsmanship are fertile ground for inspiration and innovation. Drawing from the past not only enriches the creative process but also carries the values, heritage, and experiences of previous generations. Viewing these from a new perspective is not only inspiring—it is a personal privilege.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECTS

Interferences, autonomous textiles (2025)

The designer uses ikat weaving not merely as a traditional textile technique, but as a starting point in a creative process that seeks harmony between contemporary and traditional approaches. By exploring the relationship between structure and pattern, the designer creates woven surfaces where the composition is determined by the very structure of the weave. In this context, weaving becomes more than a means of producing ikat — it takes on a guiding role, offering space for a new kind of visual thinking and material interpretation. The designer’s aim is to present a textile collection in which the attributes of traditional methods are present, while also allowing room for the experience of artistic freedom.
