HFDA Seeks Curator for 360 Design Budapest Exhibition

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency is launching an open call for curators for the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has become a key design event in the Central European region in recent years. Now in its sixth edition, the initiative aims to renew the exhibition with fresh ideas and a sensitive professional approach. In addition, it wants to enrich the exhibition with a curatorial concept that can present the newest creations while connecting artists, industry players, and the audience.

360 Design Budapest is a highlighted event of Budapest Design Week, organised by the HFDA, drawing attention to design’s everyday presence and transformative power. The programme series, which has earned a range of international recognition, aims to increase the visibility of Hungarian and regional product designers while supporting the international fame of Hungarian design brands. With its innovative perspective and sustainability-focused approach, it provides not only a professional platform but also an inspiring experience for the audience interested in design.

This year’s exhibition, running from 9–19 October 2025, embraces the motto ‘Design Aligns – Creating Together, Living Connected’, focusing on the connecting power of design. The theme celebrates the invisible yet powerful bonds that are created between artists, manufacturers, and users through the process of bringing a product to life. The 2025 edition of 360 Design Budapest aims to provide space for collective thinking and inspire visitors to discover human stories behind the objects.

The HFDA welcomes applications from creative industry professionals capable of presenting Central Europe’s contemporary object culture through a fresh perspective based on a comprehensive yet personal and strong vision in response to the theme. The curator will be tasked with developing the exhibition’s concept, participating in the selection of designers, and determining professional content. In the process, they will closely cooperate with the HFDA’s project team in the implementation of the vision.

The long-term ambition of the event series is to establish Hungary as the creative industry hub of the region, with 360 Design Budapest representing a tourist and cultural attraction on a European level. Therefore, the call is particularly open to curators, design thinkers, and art professionals who develop their concepts by involving an internationally recognised Hungarian product designer, applied or fine artist, possibly in collaboration with galleries. It is also considered an advantage if, in line with international practices, the curator’s concept includes a unique visual element or installation that forms the visual focal point of the space as part of the exhibition.

Updated deadline for submissions: Midnight, 1 June 2025.
