Fanni Tóth
This year, Fanni Tóth graduated from Budapest Metropolitan University’s Fashion and Textile Design Master’s course, specializing in Textile Design. In addition to textiles, she likes to get to know and experiment with alternative materials. To observe how textile design and construction can be adapted to different materials, such as wood. She has been dealing with this raw material for years and researching its potential uses. An earlier prototype of the room divider system named “Kanagawa” received a special award in the Design section of the 36th OTDK.
About the object
Kanagawa room divider
The artist concept was to create a structure that could be used as a room divider, which she combined with textiles. She strove for simplicity when creating the form, because she also wanted to emphasize the patterning. She chose wood as the basic material, which she started working with for the first time in 2021, the first year of her master’s degree. For pattern formation, she created a system using the Bullet Journal method, with which she has been tracking her various habits every day for 9 months.
