About the brand

The philosophy of the OHO ceramics brand is that ceramics go beyond mere beauty; they convey emotions, values and stories. They aim to bring together the worlds of art and industry, where craft traditions and innovation fuse. Orsolya Hacker is behind the one-man brand. This year, her work was showcased at two major events. At the beginning of the year, she exhibited at the National Ceramic Art Triennale in Pécs, and then in Germany, at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin, at the “Inner Space / Ibbebraum” exhibition. In her design processes, Orsolya’s favorite technique is hand-building but more and more of her work is also made by porcelain casting. She uses the knowledge she gained at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in her workshop, where she creates not only utilitarian objects but also decorative pieces.

About the objects

TANNINO set

Orsolya Hacker closely collaborated with her sibling, a sommelier, in designing the set intended for wine tasting. During the creation process, the designer considered several factors. The objects had to be aesthetically pleasing, even after the food was consumed, ensuring they still presented a beautiful sight on the table. Orsolya Hacker established a sequence through the size of the objects: first, the delicate bites are taken from the semi-torus serving dish, which rises more prominently from the table, followed by the torus from which one can nibble, and finally, the small bowl that fits comfortably in hand, allowing for movement while eating. The torus-shaped mortar and the wooden ball are used to emphasize the spice notes found in the wine. By smelling freshly ground spices before tasting the wine, one can enhance the wine-tasting experience.

Nairomi vase collection

Each member of the floor vase collection was handcrafted by Orsolya Hacker using a hand-building technique, layering one section at a time until reaching the desired height. These rustic vases embody countless hours of work and patience, evoking the rawness of nature through the playful texture of their surfaces.
