The 360 Design Budapest exhibition will be held again between the 3rd and 9th of October in Bálna Budapest. The event will await design enthusiasts with a new concept, a digital section within the physical exhibition space, exciting product design solutions and numerous professional programmes. Besides domestic creators, over 10 regional designers will display their works, and you can even meet them at the Meet the Designer programme.
The 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has won international awards, opens its gates for the third time. The event presents the most excellent pieces of design year by year with the intent of popularising Hungarian and regional product designers as widely as possible and helping Hungarian design brands enter the international market. The event realised with an innovative concept and fascinating programmes calls our attention to the everyday role of design surrounding us in 360 degrees in collaboration with its professional partners.
This year’s exhibition is meant to represent connection. It will target education and present pioneering pieces of domestic and regional design and its frontiers that draw inspiration from tradition, using storytelling on the axis of past, present, and future. This time, the exhibition can be viewed only in the physical space, but the pieces chosen in the 3D category will be brought to life innovatively in a digital section, using LED projectors.
Internationally acclaimed experts will give captivating speeches to the joy of the audience taking an interest in the world of design. On Thursday, Piero Lissoni, architect and designer, considered a master of contemporary design, will invite us on an adventure around his ongoing and finished projects entitled 1:1 Humanist Approach. On Saturday, the leader designer duo of the Italian furniture factory, Baxter, Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow will give a keynote speech, providing an insight into the possibilities of merging industries.
This time, collaborations between creators and fields of expertise will be at the centre of the HFDA Academy roundtable discussions. The Inside Art & Design programme created in partnership with Art Market Budapest provides the topic of one of the roundtable discussions as well. The invited experts will discuss the differences, overlaps, and interconnectedness of fine arts and product design under the title Points of Intersection: Art & Design. Collaboration as the Driving Force Behind Innovation is the title of the discussion in which manufacturer-designer duos participating in the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency’s design LAB incubational programme share their experiences gained during the collaboration.
Similarly to previous years, the exhibition can be viewed through exclusive guided tours again. Visitors can discover the unique specialities with the guidance of Gáspár Bonta, Programme Director of 360 Design Budapest, joined by Piero Lissoni for a tour before his presentation on Thursday. In addition, on Tuesday, Judit Osvárt, Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration; on Wednesday, Iván Vitáris, lead singer of the band Ivan & The Parazol; and on Sunday, Dr Judit Horváth, Head of Contemporary Design Department of the Museum of Applied Arts will guide us through their favourite pieces created by Hungarian and regional designers.
