Dóra Eiler

Dóra Eiler had the opportunity to encounter clay at a very young age when her mother enrolled her in a ceramics workshop during her early school years. From then on, she couldn’t let go of working with clay, and she continued her studies in this direction at the Szeged Tömörkény István Art High School. It was during this time that she realized she wanted to create more unique and unconventional objects from ceramics. She is grateful to her teacher, Boglárka Feketű, who supported her in this journey, helping her to create a ceramic room divider for her final examination in a 1:1 scale.

When she reached another career decision point and had to apply to university, she once again felt that working with clay was her path, and she couldn’t part from it. She continued her studies at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Art, majoring in Object Creation with a specialization in ceramics. Her master, György Fusz, was someone she could never thank enough for the knowledge and support he provided during consultations. She completed her bachelor’s degree in three years with such ease that her professional skills and vision were comparable to an expertly crafted clay cup. After completing her undergraduate studies, she felt the desire to deepen her knowledge further, so she applied to the Master’s program in Ceramic Design at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. There, she had the opportunity to refine her artistic vision under the guidance of masters such as Péter Kemény and András B. Szilágyi, who continue to serve as consultants for her work today.

For her, ceramics have always revealed new sides and possibilities, waiting to be discovered. Through her work, she strives to show people that clay is more than just a simple material, and through various uses of materials, she unites form and content. She believes that people’s relationship with objects is deeper than we might think, and her goal is to create works that serve as tools for people to better understand themselves and their place in the world.
