MAKHNO is a studio of contemporary Ukrainian architecture, interior design, and ceramics that rethink Ukrainian traditions, cultural phenomena, and forces of nature. It was founded in 2003 by architect, ceramist, and collector Serhii Makhno. So far, more than 700 projects have been completed in 21 countries.

The studio’s projects won prestigious Ukrainian and international competitions, such as The International Property Awards, The Architecture MasterPrize, IDA Awards, Restaurant & Bar Design, and were published in the most popular design media around the world: ArchDaily, Designboom, Dezeen, ELLE Decoration, Architectural Digest and Frame.

Serhii Makhno was one of the first to focus his work on Ukrainian culture. It was a 20-year journey of research, doubt, and finally realizing the importance of one’s roots and returning home.

Today, the studio creates projects in the contemporary Ukrainian style – it is about respecting traditions and rethinking them, about loyalty to the roots and memory of the homeland.
