Csenge Diviki-Nagy

Csenge Diviki-Nagy earned her master’s degree in 2024 from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, specializing in textile design. Moving beyond a focus on woven fabrics, she began exploring mixed media surfaces, allowing her to combine her favorite textile techniques to create exciting surfaces. After experimenting with various approaches during her master’s program, she found that felting was the technique she enjoyed working with the most. Among sewing, weaving, knitting, painting, and felting, she discovered that felting was the most suitable for integrating all these techniques into a unified and engaging material. Felting is akin to painting with fabric, offering great flexibility during and after the process. Summarizing her work, felting became the foundational technique for her home textiles. Her goal with textiles is to reintroduce a cheerful, vibrant, nature-inspired atmosphere into interior spaces and to showcase and utilize felting in a modern context.

About the object

My little garden – Rug

The aim of Csenge Diviki-Nagy is to showcase her creative toolkit through the creation of a felt rug. During the process, she paired plants and surfaces found in her home environment with textile manipulation techniques characteristic of her design persona. Her inspiration came from the traditional techniques of felt rug making and the North Caucasian carpets, which also create compositions from the flowers in their surroundings. By modernly applying traditional felting methods, she strived to create a unique, artistic rug that not only serves as a decorative element but also as an artistic expression of the symbiosis between nature and humans.
